Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Hickman County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept long enough to review it and respond. Messages remain within the site team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site's systems automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view times and dates
- Referring website, when one is available
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- Device category and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. Along with analytics services, they help produce grouped traffic information, such as which guides receive visits and where sessions end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Understanding which pages are useful and which need improvement
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Hickman County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its guides explain how to approach the Hickman County Sheriff, the Circuit Court Clerk, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on this site. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. This policy does not control a partner's processing, so review the provider's terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Kentucky government offices, court systems, legal-aid resources, or independent search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy governs. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. Their tracking is not operated by Hickman County Criminal History.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may nevertheless be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a visitor's query
- Advertising networks serving content on site pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect collected information. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, and this site cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, it will be removed after notice.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the law that applies to you. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs records held by public agencies, while criminal-history access and dissemination are addressed in provisions including KRS 17.150 and KRS 17.185. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. For information this site controls, you may:
- Request deletion of your data
- Ask what information is held about you
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices change. A replacement version will appear on this page with its effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
